Plot

Unleashing a delightful spin on a classic narrative, Schlock takes us on a wild journey of an ape-man, preserved in the icy grip of time, who accidentally regains his freedom. His release heralds a reign of chaos, as he embarks on a rampage that echoes the over-the-top slash and gore reminiscent of cult classics like "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes". The film doesn't shy away from its tongue-in-cheek humor, engaging the audience with ludicrous scenarios like a TV competition to estimate the number of people the discovered body parts belonged to. Our protagonist, Schlock, masterfully portrayed by John Landis, must navigate the complexities of expressing human emotions via a monkey suit - a feat he accomplishes with surprising clarity. The plot thickens when Schlock, the monkey-monster, falls for a blind girl who mistakes him for a giant dog. This unusual love story takes a dramatic turn as he kidnaps the girl and, in a nod to King Kong, scales the roof of a gym, prompting a tense standoff with the army. Schlock offers a rib-tickling romp through mayhem and love, challenging our ape-man to navigate the absurdity of his situation while evoking laughter and empathy in equal measure from the audience. This film is a unique blend of slapstick humor, grotesque horror, and unexpected romance, making it an unforgettable cinematic experience.
