Plot

Fresh from a triumphant win at the local DJ Championships in Egypt, our protagonist, DJ Skaarab, christened Samir (Karim Kassem), seizes an enticing chance to spin his magic at the coveted "Drop Beats" event in Brussels. However, his flight takes an unexpected detour, landing him in the heart of Luxembourg due to a sweeping strike in Belgium. Suddenly, Samir finds himself stranded in a foreign land that he had never heard of before, stripped of his belongings, papers, music, and most crucially, his identity. Embarking on an extraordinary journey in this unfamiliar territory, Samir crosses paths with an array of vibrant personalities, each adding a unique hue to his evolving story. "Sawah," the second cinematic creation from Luxembourg filmmaker Adolf El Assal, is a compelling blend of drama and comedy, co-written by the acclaimed Canadian writer Dennis Foon. The narrative artfully navigates themes of identity, travel, and the poignant refugee crisis. Boasting an eclectic international cast, including Egyptian actors Karim Kassem, Sarrah Abdelrahman, Mahmoud Ellissy, and notable talents such as Eric Kabongo, Jean-Luc Couchard, and Mourade Zuegendi, "Sawah" is a captivating tapestry of human resilience, unexpected friendships, and the universal language of music.
