In the tranquil heart of the late nineteenth-century American frontier, Steve Sinclair, a reformed gunslinger, enjoys a peaceful existence as a rancher. He owns a third of the verdant valley, a sanctuary granted by the benevolent landowner and cattle baron, Dennis Deneen, who controls the remaining two-thirds with a steadfast rule against gunfights.
