In the pulsating heart of Seoul, Korea, a tapestry of intertwined lives and heartrending tales unfold. Lee Jin-woo, a courageous firefighter, once saved Su-eun from a fiery inferno, an act that solidified an unbreakable bond between them. Yet, it's Su-eun's older sister, Soo-jeong Lim, who stirs his heart. Hoping to tame his fearlessness, Soo-jeong yearns for a marriage proposal from the brave fireman. Lee shares her dream, but his romantic spirit yearns for the perfect moment to express his love.
Meanwhile, scarred and voiceless from the fire, Su-eun finds solace in her role as an amusement park character. Hidden behind a gigantic "Raggedy-Ann" mask, she catches the attention of a charming artist who frequents the park. Despite the veil of anonymity, a mutual infatuation blooms, and they begin to navigate the tender waves of love.
Parallel to their stories, Choi Suk-hyun decides to end her relationship with the unemployed Jung Ha-seok, fearing a life marred by poverty. In a surprising twist of fate, a stranger's request for a final "goodbye" to her boyfriend triggers an entrepreneurial spark in Jung, leading him to establish an unconventional "separation agency."
Amidst these narratives, Eom Jung-hwa, engrossed in her career, inadvertently neglects her young son, Park Hwi-chan. His misbehavior at school is a silent plea for attention that only intensifies when she is hospitalized. Ironically, the hospital's sterile walls bring them closer, offering a silver lining of precious moments spent together.
"Sad Movie" is a poignant exploration of love, loss, and the power of human resilience, where each character grapples with their own challenges, their paths crisscrossing in the sprawling urban landscape of Seoul.
