Plot

In the quaint, coastal town of Rock Haven, a shy and introspective 18-year-old named Brady (Sean Hoagland) arrives, shouldered with the weight of his impending college journey and his devout Christian beliefs. His widowed mother, Marty (Laura Jane Coles), who nurtures him with a blend of love and overprotectiveness, is eager to establish a Christian school in their new home town. Brady, an avid reader of the bible, spends many quiet hours by the seaside, his gaze often lost in the rhythmic ebb and flow of the waves. His tranquil world is disrupted, however, when he encounters the 19-year-old Clifford (Owen Alabado), a free-spirited visitor from the neighboring house. Despite their contrasting personalities, an immediate spark ignites between them, an attraction that unnervingly conflicts with Brady's ingrained religious beliefs. Brady grapples with these unfamiliar feelings, seeking solace in his habitual showers, as if to cleanse himself of this confusion. His mother, intuitively sensing his inner turmoil, attempts to pair him off with a Christian girl, but her efforts prove futile. Clifford, understanding Brady's discomfort around girls, guides him through the nuances of interaction, deepening their bond in the process. Amidst their shared moments, Clifford begins to respect Brady's faith, showing an interest in the bible that Brady gifts him. Their journey of self-discovery culminates in a night of intimacy, a secret that Brady must confront when his mother discovers his lie about a church sleepover. Upon confessing his sexuality, his mother's reaction is one of denial, proposing a camp to 'fix' him. As the summer draws to a close, so does their story, leaving heartache and transformation in its wake.
