Rise and Shine, Benedict Stone (2021)

Nestled in his ancestral home on the tranquil Puget Sound island, Benedict Stone, a jeweler by trade, finds his life upended on the brink of his tenth wedding anniversary. His wife, Emilia Ramírez Stone, a dedicated teacher and budding artist, leaves him, unable to bear the weight of their childless existence and Benedict's stubborn resistance to change. Emilia finds solace in her art, while Benedict grapples with his newfound solitude. Unexpectedly, Benedict's life takes another twist as his sixteen-year-old niece, Gemma Stone, mysteriously shows up. Benedict, estranged from Gemma's father and his brother, Charlie Stone, is taken aback by her sudden appearance. Two decades ago, Charlie walked away from his life and Benedict, following a heated dispute that still haunts Benedict to this day. As he attempts to unravel Gemma's motives and reconnect with Charlie, he finds Gemma's fascination with gemstone lore reminiscent of his own parents. Gemma's unexpected visit could be the catalyst Benedict needs to reassess his life, adapt to change, and rekindle his relationship with Emilia. But time is of the essence as Emilia's first solo art show draws near, and the curator, Lawrence Donnington, shows more than just a professional interest in her. Benedict must confront his past and embrace change, or risk losing Emilia forever.
