Retribution (2015)

In the serene city of A Coruña, Galicia, nestled in the northwest of Spain, Carlos, a devoted family man and diligent bank executive, begins another ordinary day. With his loving wife Marta and two children, Sara and Marcos, he sets out to drop the kids off at school before heading to work. However, their routine is shattered when an unfamiliar cell phone left in their car rings, the anonymous voice on the other end heralding a nightmare. There's a bomb in their car, and until Carlos pays a substantial ransom by the end of the workday, they're not allowed to leave the vehicle. As fear tightens its icy grip, Carlos conceals the peril from his children and embarks on a frantic race against time. He calls on Víctor, his friend and colleague, for the money but soon discovers that the ominous "Unknown" is also blackmailing Víctor, who refuses to pay due to his involvement in illicit banking activities. A chance encounter with Julia, Victor's wife, leads to a series of horrific events, culminating in her car exploding, claiming her life and forcing Carlos and his children to flee. The explosion draws the attention of the formidable Chief of Police Espinosa, who, believing Carlos to be a threat to his own children, initiates an investigation. All the while, Marta desperately searches for her family's whereabouts, confused and worried for their unexplained absence. Parallel to the unfolding chaos, Alejandro, the Madrid-based boss of Carlos and Victor, strong-arms Carlos into silence about the bank's illegal activities, prioritizing their public image over Carlos' life. As the relentless pursuit intensifies, Carlos finds himself cornered in a public park, besieged by the police and Espinosa. In a desperate bid to protect his children, Carlos finally reveals the terror they're facing. Now, he must not only convince Espinosa of his innocence but also outwit The Unknown, unmasking their identity before the deadly countdown reaches zero. The film 'Retribution' spirals into a tense, high-stakes game of survival, where every tick of the clock echoes the thin line between life and death.
