Remember Me (2019)

In the quaint town of Monterey, California, resides Claude, an elderly theater critic, whose only companionship is his longtime friend and neighbor, Shane. Having lost his wife a few years prior, his days revolve around concern for his daughter, Selma, and granddaughter, Tania, particularly after his son-in-law David, a high-profile politician, is embroiled in a scandal involving misuse of public funds for personal indulgences. Amidst his family's turmoil, Claude seeks solace and purpose in his old profession, frequently visiting his former newspaper office, sparking conversations and sharing new ideas. On one such visit, he stumbles upon a heartbreaking revelation--Lillian Blanche, a renowned actress from the theater and cinema, also his first love from their vibrant youth in the '60s, is grappling with Alzheimer's and has been moved to a serene senior living community. A flame that never died, Claude, still smitten by Lillian, devises a daring plot with Shane's assistance: feign Alzheimer's, infiltrate the community, and reignite Lillian's lost memories. Though his initial attempts are futile, Claude remains undeterred, using mementos, letters, and DVDs of Lillian's glorious past performances, while Shane keeps tabs on Claude's progress. However, their plan hits a few snags: Selma and Tania misconstrue Claude's actions, believing he's genuinely ill, David schemes to leverage Claude's situation to salvage his tarnished reputation, and Shane discovers that Claude misled him about the status of Lillian's husband. To thicken the plot, Tania uncovers the subterfuge and decides to aid her grandfather, risking the exposure of their grand deception. Remember Me is a tale of enduring love, familial bonds, and the lengths one might go to rekindle the past's precious memories.
