Plot

In the heart of Indochina, Dennis Carson presides over an austere rubber plantation, where life is as harsh as the dusty dry monsoon that graces the land. Unexpectedly, the latest boat upriver delivers him a flamboyant and unwelcome guest, Vantine, a brazen floozy from Saigon on the lam from the law. Initially indifferent, Carson finds himself drawn into the whirlpool of Vantine's irresistible allure. But the winds of change blow with the arrival of Gary Willis, a surveyor weakened by malaria, and his wife Barbara, an embodiment of sophistication and sensuality. As the monsoon rains begin to wash over the plantation, a tempest of passion erupts, rivalling the intensity of the storm outside. In this unforgiving corner of the world, Carson must navigate the treacherous waters of desire, betrayal, and heartbreak - until the next boat arrives. Red Dust paints an evocative picture of love and lust under the relentless monsoon, where emotions flow as unpredictably and powerfully as the rain-soaked rivers of Indochina.
