Plot

Once hailed as the mastermind of college basketball, Coach Roy's star has begun to dim. His focus on lucrative endorsements over game strategies, coupled with a volatile temper that erupts on the court, have seen his reputation take a serious hit. With his inability to control his fury, he finds himself exiled from the college ball scene until he can demonstrate a semblance of composure. As Roy languishes in the shadows, awaiting an offer worthy of his talent, an unexpected proposition lands at his feet: the opportunity to coach the Mount Vernon Junior High School Smelters, a ragtag basketball squad. With a heavy sigh of resignation, Roy assumes the mantle, intending to use this stint as a stepping stone back to his former glory in the college ranks. However, the collision of his old-school methods with the untamed energy of middle school basketball leaves him reeling. It's only when Roy begins to introduce his young proteges to the fundamentals of the game - passing, rebounding, dribbling, scoring - that the Smelters start showing signs of promise. More importantly, this journey of molding the rookies into a formidable team rekindles in Roy a passion he thought was extinguished: his undying love for the game. Through the highs and lows, the movie Rebound (2005) is a heartwarming tale about rediscovery, growth, and the relentless spirit of basketball.
