Plot

In the stark landscape of medieval Korea, a despotic King learns of a brewing peasant uprising. In a bid to suppress this rebellion, he confiscates all iron implements - farm tools and cookware alike - intending to transform them into weapons of power. Despite returning these items, he unjustly imprisons an aged blacksmith, who tragically succumbs to starvation. Yet, the blacksmith leaves behind a unique legacy - a miniature figure of Pulgasari, a beast reminiscent of Godzilla, with a voracious appetite for iron. The creature is mysteriously brought to life by the grieving daughter's blood, becoming an unlikely ally to the impoverished and famished peasants. Together, they embark on a relentless quest to topple the corrupt monarchy, their courage fueled by the mighty Pulgasari. An epic tale of resistance and redemption, Pulgasari (1985) chronicles the struggles of the oppressed against the powerful backdrop of feudal Korea.
