Plot

In the heart of 8th-century China, a pall of gloom shrouds the Emperor, his spirit crushed by the loss of his cherished wife. Amidst the swirl of courtly intrigue, the ambitious Yang family seizes this opportunity to tighten their grasp over the imperial court. They unveil a hidden gem, a humble relative toiling away in their kitchens, and meticulously mold her into a consort fit for an Emperor. As she blossoms into the radiant Princess Yang Kwei-fei, she captivates the Emperor's heart, kindling a love that resurrects his spirits. The Yangs are rewarded with coveted ministerial ranks. However, the disgruntled General An Lushan finds himself overlooked, his ambitions thwarted. The Yang ministers, drunk on power, exploit their lofty positions, igniting a flame of discontent among the people. This smoldering resentment soon erupts into a full-blown revolt against the entire Yang clan, further fanned by the embittered An Lushan. In a realm where love, power, and betrayal intertwine, the fate of the Princess and the empire hangs precariously in the balance.
