Plot

In the sprawling corporate landscape of Long Island, Pete Cozy's professional life is a stark contrast to his Dartmouth business school aspirations. Once an executive at a small, independent record label, Pete reveled in the vibrancy of his work, despite its lack of financial reward. Now, at thirty-nine, he's trapped in the monotonous grind of Wolsky Supermarkets' marketing section, a subsidiary of ACS. His wife, Sara, cares for their three-year-old son, Henry, at home, while Pete's dwindling enthusiasm and mounting debts keep him tethered to a job he despises. Pete's life takes an unexpected turn with the arrival of his new boss, Susan Felders. Susan is a whirlwind of ambition and energy, her childlike approach to life belying the ruthless drive that underpins her every move. Determined to revitalize Wolsky's flagging fortunes, Susan sweeps Pete up into her high-stakes game, offering him a significant salary increase and a taste of the professional life he once dreamed of. As Pete's work life is reinvigorated, so too is his home life. Sara forms a friendship with Susan, welcoming the newfound ability to indulge in life's small and larger luxuries. However, Pete soon finds himself grappling with the question of how far he's willing to go for professional success. His quiet life is engulfed by Susan's relentless pace and he's forced to confront the realities of her modus operandi, blurring the lines between his personal and professional boundaries. "Price Check" is a compelling examination of ambition, family, and the price of success in a corporate-driven world. As Pete navigates the challenges and temptations that come his way, he must decide if the rewards are worth the sacrifice, and at what cost he's willing to chase the American Dream.
