Plot
In this recently discovered cinematic relic from 1990, an enigmatic tale unfolds about a battle-scarred Vietnam veteran, Sal Bando (Kevin Sorbo). Trapped in the torment of his former life as a pool boy, Bando comes home to Van Nuys, California, a homeland now foreign to him, where it appears pool-cleaning companies are exclusively operated by Mexicans. Stricken by the brutal murder of his wife and son by a man (Danny Trejo), Bando embarks on a savage quest to reclaim his former profession and seek retribution.
Simultaneously, this film unravels a layered narrative about the making of a movie. It's a captivating story within a story, shedding light on a man's gritty journey back to California after an eternity in the war-torn landscapes of Vietnam. He finds his once peaceful profession now dominated by those he perceives as intruders, one of whom is the cold-blooded destroyer of his family. Driven by vengeance and justice, he resolves to settle matters the only way he's been trained to.
"Poolboy: Drowning Out the Fury" is an engrossing amalgamation of lost cinema, a revenge saga, and a commentary on filmmaking itself, all woven into a gripping narrative that keeps the viewer on edge throughout.
