Lárus, a beleaguered urban engineer, finds his life in shambles. His wife's affair with his boss leaves him jobless while his ailing father's last wish sends him on an uncertain journey to Búðardalur, a small farming community on the brink of oblivion. With nothing more than a half-baked plan to revitalize their dormant slaughterhouse, Lárus plunges headfirst into a world he barely comprehends.
