In the pulsating heart of Manhattan, two seemingly disparate families find their lives intertwining in unexpected ways, as they grapple with a myriad of life’s challenges. Sisters Rebecca and Mary share a tenuous connection to their crotchety 91-year-old grandmother's neighbours, Kate and Alex, who co-run a thriving vintage furniture business. As they eye the grandmother's apartment for expansion after her inevitable passing, the complexity of relationships deepens. Rebecca lives an unassuming life, her quiet solitude only broken when a patient from her workplace introduces her to his grandson. In stark contrast, Mary’s sharp tongue masks her vulnerable heart, recently bruised by a romantic misadventure. Meanwhile, Kate and Alex are mired in their own existential quandaries. Kate grapples with a gnawing emptiness, contemplating altruistic pursuits to imbue her life with purpose. Simultaneously, Alex finds himself adrift, unsure of his path. Their teenage daughter, Abby, is caught in the throes of adolescence, battling acne and the tumultuous mood swings that come with it.
