Meet Dave (2008)

A crew of aliens have landed on Earth with the intention of exploring humanity, but their ship takes a rather unusual form. Dave appears by most accounts to be a normal human being, but his sole reason for existing is to ferry the aliens to their destinations. The aliens want to recover an orb with the potential to remove all the salt from Earth's waters, but it's now in the hands of an ordinary kid named Josh. As they get closer to Josh and his mother so they can retrieve the device, they find themselves building an unusual connection with the humans.
