Paradise Hills (2019)

In a future undefined, society cleaves into two: the privileged "superiors," and the rest, the "inferiors", encompassing the middle and lower classes. Uma, a superior-class teenager, resists an arranged marriage to a fellow superior, Son, as she harbors feelings for an inferior named Markus. Her defiance prompts her mother to dispatch her to Paradise Hills, a reform school for rebellious young women, nestled on an idyllic remote island. Upon awakening in Paradise, Uma finds herself in the company of other pupils: Amarna, a global pop sensation whose rebellion against her parent's and record label's control landed her there; Chloe, a girl battling body image issues whose parents seek to mold her into their vision of perfection, and Yu, an inferior orphaned and adopted by superior relatives, who aim to groom her into their superior likeness. As Uma encounters the flamboyant and enigmatic Duchess, the headmaster of Paradise Hills, who attempts to alter her stance on marrying Son, she begins to question the true motive behind the island's opulence and its daily regimen of grooming, etiquette, and therapy sessions. As Uma and Amarna hatch a risky escape plan, Uma is startled by Markus's sudden appearance among the Paradise Hills staff, much to the chagrin of Amarna, who has developed feelings for Uma. An alarming revelation about the innocent-looking milk they consume leads Uma on a daring nocturnal investigation. She uncovers a dreadful secret: the island itself is a colossal control room designed to analyze the students' behavior and appearance. The ultimate goal is to produce inferior girls who can replace the originals after their untimely demise. With the clock ticking, Uma and her comrades must strategize their survival, or risk being replaced in this chilling utopia turned dystopia.
