P.O.W. The Escape (1986)

In the twilight hours of the Vietnam War, US Airborne Colonel James Cooper courageously undertakes a perilous mission to free American prisoners of war, held captive in a clandestine Vietcong camp, which officially doesn't even exist. The daring rescue plan goes awry when Cooper's escape helicopter explodes in mid-air, leaving him the sole survivor and a prisoner himself in the enemy camp. The camp's commander, Captain Vinh, harboring stolen gold and dreams of a new life in America, proposes a deal: Cooper's freedom in exchange for his aid. Initially, Cooper resists, but as the threat of the prisoners' imminent deportation to Hanoi looms with an arriving convoy, he accepts the offer, with one condition: every American must be granted freedom alongside him.
