Plot

Caught in the year 2003's societal norms, Bobby, the youngest son of a traditional Irish Catholic family in Chicago, grapples with a secret that has stayed locked in his heart for too long - he's gay. In the face of his three older brothers, he plays the part of a heterosexual man, despite being urged by his sister, his boyfriend, and even his lesbian accomplice to unveil his truth. Bobby's life, although seemingly mundane, is a cinematic reel of missed opportunities and unspoken truths. The death of their father provides a poignant backdrop for Bobby's struggle, and a subsequent fishing trip with his brothers presents him with the perfect chance to come clean. But fear and uncertainty hold him back. As Bobby finally gathers the strength to face his truth, the movie takes a turn, exploring his brothers' reactions and how Bobby copes with the potential fallout. Amidst the backdrop of a close-knit, insular family navigating their way through their father's death and their brother's revelation, the story is a testament to the power of acceptance and love. In the heart of Chicago, can the narrow-mindedness of a deeply rooted Irish Catholic family be overcome? Or will Bobby's truth shatter the family's harmony forever? "Outing Riley" is a poignant narrative of the battle between tradition and truth, familial love and personal authenticity.
