Plot
In the heart of 19th-century England, we meet Oscar - a youthful, atypical Anglican priest, shrouded in societal seclusion yet blessed with an angelic spirit. Brought up in a stern Pentecostal family, he experiences a divine revelation, compelling him to abandon his father and his faith to embrace the Church of England. Across the seas in Australia, Lucinda, a teenage heiress, burns with a fervent passion to emancipate her gender from the claustrophobic clutches of the male-centric society of her era.
An owner of a glass factory, Lucinda dreams of crafting a church of glass and transporting it to Bellingen, a secluded settlement on the north coast. Fate intertwines the lives of Oscar and Lucinda aboard a ship bound for Australia. Once there, they find themselves expelled from society for diverse reasons and consequently form an unlikely alliance.
Bound by a shared passion for gambling, Lucinda challenges Oscar with a high-stakes wager: her entire inheritance against his ability to safely convey the glass church to the Outback. As Oscar accepts her audacious bet, they unknowingly set in motion a series of events that will irrevocably transform their destinies.
