Plot

In the heart of Glasgow, Frank Redmond, a staunch 55-year-old shipbuilder, suddenly finds his life's work washed away with a sudden layoff. Stranded in the sea of life without his lifelong compass - his job, Frank grapples with a sense of aimlessness, too stubborn to seek help. His loyal companions - the mischievous Danny, the shy Norman, and the skeptical Eddie - provide a lifeline, but the feeling of isolation gnaws at Frank. A casual comment from Danny sparks a flame in Frank, prompting him to embark on a personal quest. With the state of his relationship with his caring wife Joan and his distant son Rob in mind, Frank sets out to salvage his sinking self-esteem. His daring objective? To swim the daunting expanse of the English Channel. As Frank submerges into this new routine, his friends, driven by the persistent Chan who owns the local fish-and-chips shop, rally around him. They train him, support him, and shroud their audacious goal from his unsuspecting wife and son. Amidst this turmoil, Frank finds himself unable to confide in his loved ones, but as the hurdles rise and the day of reckoning approaches, the tide begins to turn. His family, sensing more than just waves, confront him, leading Frank to the realization that he must mend his frayed family bonds. In this journey, Frank and his family unearth deep-seated reservoirs of love and kindness. Frank's swim across the English Channel becomes more than a physical challenge - it serves as a metaphorical journey from one chapter of his life to another, a journey that reveals the power of love, resilience, and quiet heroism.
