Plot

Set against the backdrop of the historic Great Flood of 1927, "Old Man" weaves a tale of resilience, redemption, and the complexities of human choices. A dutiful convict, counting down the last nine years of a burdensome twenty-year sentence, finds his monotonous existence disrupted when he's thrust into a daunting rescue mission. His task: to retrieve a pregnant woman marooned in the unforgiving clutches of a tree amidst the roaring floodwaters. Their ensuing journey home is fraught with peril, each moment testing their survival instincts as they navigate through the tumultuous aftermath of the storm. As the floodwaters surge, so do their predicaments, driving them further from their intended destination and into the heart of uncertainty. The convict, once committed to serving his time, is now confronted with a daunting decision that could redefine his destiny. Their shared plight unearths a bond, tempting him to abandon his promise of returning her home and instead carve out a new path together in the wilderness. As the storm rages on, the convict must decide: Should he uphold his commitment and risk facing the shackles of confinement once more, or seize this unexpected chance at freedom and run away with her? "Old Man" is a riveting exploration of the human spirit's ability to endure and the profound choices that shape our lives. It's a story of unexpected companionship, the struggle for survival, and the power of decisions made in the face of adversity.
