Plot

"Nureyev" is an evocatively powerful documentary masterminded by BAFTA-nominated duo, Jacqui and David Morris. The film traces the remarkable trajectory of Rudolf Nureyev, a man whose life began in the humble confines of a 5th class trans-Siberian train carriage and soared to unprecedented heights as the world's most celebrated dancer. This narrative captures Nureyev's audacious leap for freedom amidst the boiling tensions of the Cold War, his iconic partnership with Margot Fonteyn, and his ascension to global stardom. Like a gripping Russian novel, Nureyev's tale is intimately entwined with the story of his homeland. The film is a rich tapestry of unseen footage, brought to life with the harmonious accompaniment of an original score by award-winning composer Alex Baranowski. The narrative is punctuated by mesmerizing dance sequences, freshly choreographed by Royal Ballet veteran Russell Maliphant, rendering "Nureyev" a cinematic spectacle unlike any other. It presents a portrait as distinctive and indelible as the man it honours. There will never be another Nureyev.
