The recently deceased owner, Grace, bequeaths the dilapidated Inn to her estranged niece, Mackenzie Warren. Mackenzie, a successful estate appraiser, hasn't seen her aunt or the Inn since she was seven, her childhood Christmases there a distant memory, long eclipsed by her relentless pursuit of success in the corporate world.
