Intrepid reporter Matt is the beating heart of the Daily News, unearthing the stories that make headlines. His fiery spirit and determination are unquenchable, even though his stories often lead to the wrong conclusion, forcing his paper to issue embarrassing retractions. When Matt stumbles upon the lifeless body of wealthy Edward Abbott in a shabby boarding house, he finds himself on the precipice of a chilling mystery. The circumstances are suspicious - suicide or murder? Matt chooses the latter, but the official verdict sides with suicide. His audacious stand costs him his job but doesn't dampen his spirit as he finds solace in the arms of the lovely Jane.
