Plot

Renowned artist Phillip Gayley and his ex-wife Ellen, a former Gayley Girl, are navigating the choppy waters of divorce in the vibrant heart of New York City. Known for his captivating series of Gayley Girls, swimsuit models caught in seductive poses, Phil's artistic reputation is as colourful as his personal life. Shuttling between their parents every six months, their seven-year-old daughter, endearingly nicknamed Flip, is the emotional bridge between the two worlds, yearning for the time when they were a united family. Driven to divorce by her critical mother, Mrs. Hamilton, Ellen reluctantly severed ties with Phil, swayed by accusations of his roving eye, particularly for his current Gayley Girl models. Mrs. Hamilton's ideal son-in-law is the staid and secure lawyer, Rex DeVallon, but both Phil and Ellen's hearts harbor hidden desires for reconciliation, an echo of their love that refuses to be silenced. Their mutual friend, Luigi, the charismatic owner of the restaurant where their love story began, is the unsolicited cupid in their tale, orchestrating plans to reunite them, but often causing more chaos than harmony. As Phil's artistic world continues to be peopled with beautiful models like the ambitious Nancy Graham, who envisions herself as the next Mrs. Gayley, and Rex's persistent presence in Ellen's life, their road to a possible reunion is fraught with unexpected turns. Adding an unexpected twist to the tale is Flip's pen pal, the gallant US Marine Corporal Fenwick Lonkowski, who finds himself in New York after a long deployment. Unaware of his correspondent's true age, he is drawn into their tangled lives, offering Ellen a chance to stir a flicker of jealousy in Phil. "Never Say Goodbye" is a beguiling tale of love, divorce, and the desire to mend bridges, wrapped up in the charm and humor of life's unpredictable turns.
