Naukari (1954)

In the poignant tale of "Naukari" (1954), we follow the rollercoaster journey of Ratan Kumar Chaudhary (Kishore Kumar), a young man who abandons the familiarity of his village, his ailing sister, and elderly mother, in a desperate quest for employment in the bustling city of Calcutta. His new beginnings are humble, confined to a squalid tenement shared with other jobless hopefuls. Love blooms amidst these hardships when he crosses paths with Seema (Sheila Ramani), a young woman residing in the building opposite his own. Despite these hurdles, Ratan eventually reports for his new job and immediately sends for Seema, who defies her family to join him. But as Seema's train pulls into Bombay, Ratan, now jobless, is caught in a whirlwind of deceit. What transpired to strip Ratan of his newfound stability?
