Bicycle Thieves (1948)

Italy is deep in the midst of a depression in the wake of World War II, but Ricci has it especially hard. The unemployed man's bike has just been stolen, and it's a practical necessity for his survival. He was scheduled to start his first day at a new job but needs his bicycle to do the work, so he and his son set out to find the culprits. They manage to discover where the thieves live, but they have no evidence to present to the police. He can either go back home in despair or take more desperate measures.
