Naughty Boy (1962)

In the bustling maze of the city, Pritam, a diligent book-keeper for an Export Import Firm, is all but homeless. His quest for a humble abode leads him into the heart of a peculiar rooming house, courtesy of his friend Jagdish. There, he shares his space with Jagdish, Kavi Viyogi, and Hhimsen, under the watchful eyes of a landlady whose only mandate is that love must not bloom on her property. One fateful rainy day, Pritam's path crosses with the enchanting Meena Sharma at a local dairy, their umbrellas tangling in a dance of fate. The umbrellas, once freed, are interchanged, leading Pritam to her doorstep. He discovers that Meena is the niece of a respected music maestro, and seizes the opportunity to enrol in the maestro’s class, finding a way to be near her. As the melodies of their hearts synchronize, Pritam and Meena fall deeply in love. However, when Meena departs for her sister's wedding in Poona, tragedy strikes. News reaches Pritam of a train accident, with Meena listed among the deceased. Grief-stricken and despondent, Pritam plunges into a well of despair, until his well-meaning co-workers plan a picnic to lift his spirits. Gradually, Pritam finds the strength to soldier on, choosing to celebrate life instead of mourning Meena. But in a twist of fate, Meena returns, alive and well, only to find Pritam immersed in a world of joy, even courting the captivating dancer, Edna Wong. Angered by his apparent lack of grief, she decides to teach him a lesson he'll never forget. As this lesson unfolds, viewers are left to wonder how it will impact our carefree hero's life, and what surprises the future has in store for him.
