Stu Shepard is a successful publicist living in New York City. When he gets into trouble, Shepard depends on his charm, charisma, and connections to avoid conflict, especially when it comes to his wife, Kelly. In anticipation of receiving a phone call he doesn't want this wife to know about, Stu waits by a phone booth. Stu answers the phone when it rings, and that's when his life changes. The caller isn't the person he was expecting. Instead, it is a homicidal maniac on the other end, and Stu finds himself trapped in the phone booth with no way out.
