Nature Unleashed: Earthquake (2005)

In the heart of Russia, a respected yet reluctant engineer, Josh, finds his world upturned. When minor seismic activity stirs the region, he's compelled to board the next flight east to inspect a nuclear power plant. His ex-wife, Rachel, is stationed there, and his two children, Dylan and Cherie, reside nearby, adding a layer of personal stake to his professional obligations. Upon arrival, he is given a tour by Emilio, the headstrong manager of the facility, and is met with a frosty reception by Rachel, who is preoccupied with concerns regarding the nuclear core's stability post-tremor. Josh's suspicions about the core overheating are dismissed by both Rachel and Emilio, leaving him standing in the cold of the Russian night, with only the melancholic silhouette of his children in the window for company. The following day, the seemingly ordinary lives of these characters are thrown into chaos. Rachel, preoccupied with work, sends her kids to school, while Emilio, blinded by his ambitions, pushes the plant to its limits. Simultaneously, the rebellious Cherie slips away from school to visit the power plant, while her brother Dylan masks his concern with indifference. However, their lives are suddenly shaken when a catastrophic earthquake, measuring 8.2 on the Richter scale, rips through the countryside, igniting fires around the plant's uranium core and trapping Cherie in a subway train. In the aftermath, the true battle for survival begins. Josh, locked away in the containment area, must rely on his wits to escape. Rachel devises a desperate plan to flood the increasingly unstable plant with water from a distant reservoir, but at the cost of submerging the subway system. Meanwhile, Dylan takes to the ravaged streets on a borrowed motorcycle, braving the chaos in search of his trapped sister. As the nuclear core teeters on the brink of meltdown, Josh and Rachel plunge into the labyrinthine subway tunnels in a race against time to save both the plant and the passengers trapped within, including their own children. Yet, the merciless force of nature isn't done yet, and a second massive quake lies in wait, setting the stage for a climactic showdown.
