Plot

"Nanking" is a heart-wrenching journey into one of history's darkest chapters, the 1937 invasion of China by the Japanese army. As Shanghai falls, the merciless soldiers advance towards the capital, Nanking, shrouding the city in a chilling silence of anticipation. Amidst this impending horror, a beacon of hope emerges, a sanctuary known as the Safety Zone, crafted by a group of courageous Western expatriates, including John Rabe, Minnie Vautrin, Bob Wilson, and George Fitch. This refuge, untouched by the Japanese bombers, transforms into a haven for thousands of terrified refugees. The serene calm of the Safety Zone is shattered on 13th December 1937, when the Japanese soldiers infiltrate Nanking, unleashing a brutal onslaught of murder and rape upon the helpless civilians. As the city drowns in despair, our group of Western heroes rise, defending the lives of around 250,000 Chinese and sacrificing their own freedom in the process. Their extraordinary heroism sparks a light in the heart of this darkness, revealing the unspoken strength of humanity in the face of unimaginable cruelty. "Nanking" is not just a tale of war crimes and unspeakable atrocities; it is a testament to the remarkable impact individuals can have on the course of history. This gripping narrative brings a largely unknown event outside of Asia to the forefront, illuminating the power of unity and courage in the grimmest of times. Watch as the heroes of Nanking strive to narrate their story to the world, revealing the horrific truth about the invasion and the incredible courage it sparked in the most unlikely of heroes.
