Nadine (1987)

In the sultry summer of 1954, Austin, Texas, Nadine Hightower, a seductive beauty with a knack for trouble, finds herself embroiled in a deadly game of cat and mouse. Working in a local beauty parlour, Nadine's world is turned upside down when she naively agrees to pose for some 'art studies.' Realising the potential scandal that could arise if the photographs were to fall into the wrong hands, she implores the photographer, Raymond Escobar, to return them. In a twist of fate, Escobar mistakenly hands over an envelope containing highly valuable blueprints for a proposed new road instead of the scandalous photographs. As Nadine waits to rectify the blunder, a shocking murder unfolds before her eyes, and she is left holding the evidence, turning her into the prime suspect. Meanwhile, her ex-husband, Vernon Hightower, a down-on-his-luck bar owner, arrives on her doorstep with divorce papers in hand. When he stumbles upon the blueprints, he sees dollar signs instead of trouble. Yet, their path to fortune is far from smooth; the ruthless criminal, Buford Pope, is hot on their trail, desperate to retrieve the stolen plans. With both law enforcement and murderous villains breathing down their necks, the Hightowers must navigate a world of danger and deception. As the stakes get higher and the noose tightens, Nadine and Vernon find themselves in a desperate race against time, their own ineptitude, and the relentless pursuit of their adversaries.
