Plot

In the world of academia and adolescent angst, high school senior Bobby Chrystal finds himself in a quandary. With a failed French final under his belt, his dreams of entering Yale, his father's prestigious alma mater, hang in the balance. Indifferent to both French and Yale, Bobby's life takes an unexpected turn when his authoritarian father orchestrates an unconventional solution. In a bid to salvage Bobby's academic future, his father hires Terry Green, a 29-year-old French whizz and an embodiment of youthful fantasies. As a resident tutor for the summer, Terry is tasked with the mission of ensuring Bobby passes a make-up exam with a score of at least 85%. With her expert guidance and captivating personality, Bobby's once-dreaded French lessons transform into an enticing journey of knowledge. However, the summer holds more than just verb conjugations and grammar lessons for Bobby. While his friends embark on their comical and somewhat misguided quests to lose their virginities, Bobby finds himself entangled in the exhilarating yet complex language of love. Under Terry's tutelage, he begins to understand more than just the French language, but is this growing interest purely academic or something more? As Bobby becomes Terry's favourite student, the line between learning and longing starts to blur, making for a summer that's unforgettable.
