In the heart of suburban tranquility, nine-year-old Eli Braverman harbors a chilling secret that strikes fear into his young heart. Convinced that a monstrous entity, known as the Broughlin Monster, lurks in the dark depths of his basement, he finds himself caught in a web of terror. Guided by the innocence of childhood imagination, or perhaps a stark reality too horrifying for an adult mind to comprehend, Eli becomes an unlikely harbinger of danger. His older sister Emily, more enticed by teenage rebellion than her brother's tales of dread, dismisses his fears as mere child's play. To the alarm of his concerned school teacher, Eli shares his dark secret with his class, causing his parents, Liz and Richard Braverman, to question his mental well-being. Unfazed, Eli finds allies in his best friend Sam and fellow classmate Hillary, both drawn into his eerie narrative. One fateful night, the Braverman parents entrust Emily with the task of babysitting. Distracted by the thrill of youthful adventures, Emily abandons her brother for a rendezvous with her boyfriend Dominic. Alone in the house, Eli finds himself standing on the precipice of terror, confronted with the task of uncovering the truth. Is the monster a figment of his overactive imagination, or a living nightmare lurking just beneath their home? As the night deepens, Eli's fears take a terrifyingly tangible form, plunging him into an abyss far more haunting than his darkest dreams.
