In the turbulent era of the 70's, Sadik, a fiery university student turned left-wing journalist, defies his father's dreams for him to be an agricultural engineer and custodian of their family's Aegean farmstead. His rebellious spirit is unyielding, even as the country is plunged into chaos with the ruthless military coup on the fateful dawn of September 12, 1980. Amidst this turmoil, Sadik experiences the heart-wrenching loss of his wife in childbirth, their only daughter, Deniz, a beacon of hope in these dark times, survives. Unable to seek medical help in the coup's iron grip, Sadik bears the anguish of this loss alone. Years of torture, court trials, and prison life weight heavily on Sadik, but he perseveres, emerging with his spirit unbroken but scarred. Now, with Deniz, a child of 7-8 years by his side, he embarks on a journey back to his Aegean roots, to the family farm he once abandoned. The prodigal son returns, aware that reconciling with his estranged father, Huseyin, will be an uphill battle.
