Welcome to the vibrant, bustling world of New York City where Gerry North, a passionate book publisher and aspiring author, and his whimsically scatterbrained wife, Pam North, navigate a life filled with unexpected twists. Their unconventional journey takes a dark detour when, after a 24-hour absence from their apartment - Gerry away in Boston for work and Pam visiting her mother - they return home to a chilling discovery. Their home, they soon realize, has played host to an unwanted visitor, a fact that is confirmed when they discover a dead body hidden in their liquor closet.
The dead man, identified as Stanley Brent, a lawyer who once litigated against Gerry, and the estranged husband of Pam’s friend Carol, has been brutally killed. This shocking revelation transforms Gerry and Pam's world, shoving them into the heart of a murder investigation.
