Plot

"Movie Movie" (1978) is a playful parody of the 1930s cinematic era, where three distinctive film genres are brilliantly lampooned. The first feature, "Dynamite Hands," unfolds the tale of a humble delivery boy who dons the gloves of a prizefighter, driven by the noble cause of funding an eye surgery for his little sister. However, his path takes a twisted turn when a flamboyant gangster and a sultry nightclub enchantress lure him away from his father-like manager and charming librarian love interest. The narrative takes a brief interlude with a theatrical trailer for "Zero Hour," an intense drama set against the backdrop of World War I aviation. This serves as a satirical intermission, poking fun at the sensationalized movie trailers of the era. In the ensuing feature, "Baxter's Beauties of 1933," a Broadway showrunner, upon learning of his imminent demise, vows to create one last spectacular hit. When his inebriated star diva fails to perform on the opening night, he is compelled to replace her with an ingénue who, to his surprise, is his long-lost daughter, whom he hasn't seen since her childhood. Throughout this whimsical cinematic journey, the same ensemble cast slips into a variety of roles in a delightful display of their acting repertoire. Experience the 1930s movie nostalgia with a humorous twist in "Movie Movie."
