Plot

In the chilling remake of John Russo's 1982 cult classic, Midnight (2020) plunges viewers into a world where nightmares intertwine with reality. Russo's gripping narrative, originally published as a novel in 1980 and resurrected for this relaunch, is seamlessly adapted by Director Gary Lee Vincent. The sinister tale follows Nancy, a teenage girl who, tormented by her stepfather, a police officer with dark intentions, flees the safety of her home. Portrayed by newcomer Brennan Bobish, Nancy finds herself thrust into a macabre journey when she crosses paths with a band of wanderers heading for a camping trip. Among them are the enigmatic Abraham, played by Michael Ochotorena, the unpredictable Luke, brought to life by Kevin Winn, and the mysterious Cynthia, embodied by Michelle Bowser. Their idyllic journey is abruptly shattered when they stray onto the ominous territory of a family steeped in bloodshed and twisted by a demonic faith. The family, led by the unhinged brothers who revel in their murderous pursuits, and the unnerving Cynthia, who is hell-bent on invoking the spirit of their deceased mother, becomes a relentless force of terror. As the Good Friday / Black Sabbath / Easter weekend unfolds, the story careens into a grisly cat-and-mouse chase, with Nancy and her fellow campers ensnared in a deadly game of survival. As the narrative spirals further into darkness, the film introduces a fresh character, Caleb Barnes, portrayed by Solon Tsangaras. The tale also expands the role of Mama Barnes, depicted by Jeanne Wesson. A cameo by Russo himself as Father Stephen adds an intriguing layer to the tension-filled saga. In this harrowing tale of survival and supernatural horror, Midnight (2020) tests the boundaries of faith and fear, as the spirit world bleeds into reality. Nancy's prayers and resilience are pitted against the malevolence that seeks to resurrect the dead, creating a cinematic experience that will leave viewers on the edge of their seats.
