The Grudge 3 (2009)

In the chilling depths of Chicago's mental health system, young Jake is trapped, his pleas of ghostly torment falling on the deaf ears of his therapist, Dr. Sullivan. When Jake's life abruptly ends under inexplicable circumstances, the skeptical doctor finds herself swayed towards the eerie side of the unknown. Elsewhere in the city, Lisa, the sister of the enigmatic superintendent Max of Jake's building, unwittingly stumbles upon a crime scene. Seeking a private moment with her boyfriend Andy, she pilfers the keys to apartment 305, only to recoil in horror at the sight of the tainted space. Returning to the safety of her apartment, where she resides alongside Max and their sister Rose, she cannot shake off the dread that's begun to creep in. Across the ocean, in the bustling heart of Tokyo, Naoko, a young Japanese woman burdened by familial ties to the malevolent spirit Kayako, makes the decision to journey to Chicago. She believes she holds the key to ending the horrifying curse that has claimed innocent lives. Upon her arrival, she encounters Lisa, imploring her and Rose to assist in her daunting mission to quell her sister's demonic wrath. However, Lisa remains hesitant, even as the insidious spirit of Daisuke takes a terrifying hold of Max. Pushed to the brink, Lisa finally seeks out Naoko, but the clock is ticking and the curse is spreading. With every passing moment, the hope of saving her loved ones and ending the reign of Kayako's terror grows dimmer. The city of Chicago is under the shadow of a curse and faces a race against time that it may already be losing.
