In the heart of Britewell, Ohio—dubbed the candy cane capital of the world—lies the Merry and Bright Candy Cane Company, a festive enterprise that has been lighting up the holiday season for generations. However, the company's future hangs in the balance when the reins fall into the hands of Cate Merriwether, a reluctant CEO who took over the company after the death of her grandmother Carol, the founder and fifty-year steward of Merry and Bright. Struggling to keep her grandmother's vision alive, Cate finds herself at odds with the board of directors who enlist the help of Empire Corporate Recovery, a New York-based firm, to revive the stagnant company. Enter Gabe Carter, Empire's top consultant, who is more accustomed to the hustle and bustle of global business hubs and not the charm of a small-town candy cane company. Accustomed to spending Christmas in transit, Gabe is far from thrilled about his assignment in the Christmas-obsessed Britewell. Cate mistakenly assumes Gabe to be a suitor her mother has been trying to pair her with, leading to an unexpected twist of events. Their clashing worlds ignite a fiery professional relationship that doesn't sit well with either of them. Yet, as the pressures of the season mount, an unlikely friendship blossoms between Cate and Gabe, which soon stirs into a mutual attraction. As they work together to rejuvenate the company, they find surprising common ground and discover they share more than just a knack for business. However, their blossoming romance is threatened by their opposing visions for the company's future—Cate's determination to preserve her grandmother's legacy and Gabe's mandate to make the company more profitable. Cate's journey becomes even more complicated when her assistant Sophie seeks advice on coaxing her boyfriend Pete into proposing, and her mother Joy secretly adopts a rescue dog that Cate had her eyes on for Christmas. Amidst all this, Cate and Gabe must find a way to reconcile their differences and save the Merry and Bright Candy Cane Company, all while navigating the magic, surprises, and challenges of the Christmas season.
