Plot

In the twilight of her years, Miss Morrison reminisces about her golden days as Marcia Morney, the radiant opera star who once graced the grand stages of Napoleon III's Paris. One fateful night, she crosses paths with Paul Allison, an American voice scholar, and a spontaneous romance blossoms between them. However, Marcia finds herself entangled in a commitment she can't escape; a marriage proposal from her mentor, Nicolai Nazaroff, accepted more out of a sense of duty than affection. Torn between love and obligation, Marcia ends her relationship with Paul and unwillingly becomes Nicolai's wife. Seven years into their marriage, Nicolai orchestrates Marcia's comeback performance in the United States in the opera "Tsaritsa". Unbeknownst to Nicolai, he inadvertently reunites Marcia with her former lover by casting Paul as her onstage partner. When the truth of Marcia and Paul's past relationship dawns on Nicolai, a storm of jealousy engulfs him, setting the stage for a gripping tale of love, jealousy, and the haunting melody of a bygone era.
