Plot
In the twilight of her years, Miss Morrison reminisces about her golden days as Marcia Morney, the radiant opera star who once graced the grand stages of Napoleon III's Paris. One fateful night, she crosses paths with Paul Allison, an American voice scholar, and a spontaneous romance blossoms between them. However, Marcia finds herself entangled in a commitment she can't escape; a marriage proposal from her mentor, Nicolai Nazaroff, accepted more out of a sense of duty than affection.
Torn between love and obligation, Marcia ends her relationship with Paul and unwillingly becomes Nicolai's wife.
