Plot

In the quaint, academic town of Westerly, Massachusetts, a place bearing a striking resemblance to Northampton, Mass., the idyllic life of an endearing couple, Andy and Tracy, starts to unravel. Both immersed in the world of education, Andy is a respected college Dean, always attentive to his coeds, while Tracy, played by Nicole Kidman, nurtures young minds. Their lives are seemingly perfect, except for the shadow of childlessness that lingers over them, and the unsettling presence of a rapist tormenting the college community. Their tranquil existence in a Victorian fixer-upper is disturbed when an old high school friend of Andy, the charismatic yet unabashedly audacious Jed Hill, re-enters their lives. Despite the chaos unfolding in town, Andy inexplicably invites Jed into their home, a decision that seems to unsettle Tracy. The first night of Jed's stay quickly dissolves any illusion of harmony as his boisterous escapade with a nurse echoes through their home, leaving Tracy in disquiet. In a twist of fate, amidst the turmoil in town, Tracy falls critically ill, rushed to the hospital with a ruptured ovarian cyst. It is here that Jed, a seemingly omniscient doctor, makes a life-altering decision to remove her ovaries. This leads to a litigious retaliation from Tracy that spirals into a complex insurance debacle, hinting at Tracy's possibly duplicitous identity. As the narrative unfolds, the turmoil in their once peaceful town mirrors the unraveling secrets in their lives. Malice is a gripping tale of trust, deception, and the pursuit of truth, where the characters' lives intertwine in a web of uncertainty and suspense.
