Plot

In the quaint city of Lucknow, Mithilesh Shukla, a 34-year old bachelor of modest height, leads an unremarkable life as a librarian in the revered Tagore Library of Lucknow University. Carrying the weight of familial expectations, he finds himself on an arranged matrimonial journey to Bareilly, instigated by his well-meaning but persistent mother and his Uncle, Advocate Kishorilal Mishra. In Bareilly, Mithilesh encounters the enchanting Veena Tiwari, a statuesque beauty who towers over him, yet is rich with culture and education, embodying all the qualities he desires in a life-partner. The compatibility strikes a chord, they get married and Veena moves into the Shukla household, igniting a new chapter in Mithilesh's life. However, the height difference, initially disregarded, starts simmering into a complex of insecurities for Mithilesh. Everyday situations such as riding his motorbike with Veena or receiving milk from an overly friendly milkman become sources of discomfort. The whispers and stares of society amplify his self-consciousness, igniting an internal flame of anxiety, compelling him to avoid public appearances with his taller wife. The flames of insecurity are fanned further with the arrival of Akash, a tall, sophisticated computer operator hired at Mithilesh's workplace. Akash, a former acquaintance of Veena's, seems to Mithilesh like a looming threat, reflecting all the qualities he perceives himself lacking. Consumed by jealousy, Mithilesh succumbs to the urge of trailing Veena, suspecting an affair between his wife and Akash. This decision spirals him into a whirlpool of problems, threatening to shatter his world. He finds himself sinking deeper into the bog of insecurities, where his paranoia and jealousy gnaw at the fabric of his life. "Main, Meri Patni Aur Woh" is an intriguing exploration of one man's journey through the labyrinth of insecurities and the toll it takes on his relationships, painting a compelling picture of love, self-doubt, and redemption.
