Plot

In the rustic charm of villages near Mathura, where the simplicity of life is punctuated by deeply rooted traditions, resides Keshav, a 36-year-old bachelor assisting his brother Naru in managing their inherited cycle business. Keshav's life is shadowed by his father's unusual superstition—his life partner must be a girl with two fingers on her left hand. Amidst these peculiarities, fate introduces him to Jaya, a vibrant, well-educated lady hailing from an affluent family. Through a series of humorous yet heartfelt attempts, Keshav manages to win over Jaya's heart, intertwining their lives in the bond of matrimony. However, the bliss of their marriage is abruptly disrupted when Jaya uncovers a shocking truth—Keshav's house is devoid of a toilet. Stunned and unable to compromise with this harsh reality, Jaya chooses to depart, leaving Keshav anguished and desperate. This unexpected hurdle sparks a resolve within Keshav. Determined to reclaim his love, he embarks on a daunting quest against the backdrop of a country where 80% of households lack basic sanitation. With an unwavering spirit, Keshav challenges the age-old traditions, mindset, and value system that bind his village in a time warp. His fight is not merely to construct a toilet, but to usher in a wave of change, one that could redefine the societal norms of his village. "Toilet: A Love Story" cleverly weaves love, tradition, and a quest for change into a tale that is as heartwarming as it is thought-provoking, taking audiences on a journey through the colorful canvas of Indian rural life.
