Plot

In the world of cured meats where pigs outnumber people, we find Riko, a man tethered to a life that echoes his father's. His job at the factory is as tasteless as the meats he produces, and his love for Sarah, genuine as it is, teeters on the edge of a precipice. As his middle-aged colleagues fall prey to unemployment, Riko clings to his job, finding little solace in the company of his friends, including the enigmatic Carnevale. Riko's existence is a carousel spinning in the gray area of a professional and existential crisis. A spark of rebellion ignites within him, prompting a journey to Rome with his friends. Amidst a roaring protest, a blow to Riko's head serves as a catalyst for change, emboldening him to mend his strained relationship with Sarah and face the tumult at work. With newfound hope, Riko and Sarah choose to rekindle their vows. However, their fresh start is marred by Sarah's shocking revelation— an affair with Carnevale, Riko's confidant, who later succumbs to suicide. The aftermath leaves Riko jobless, his world collapsing under the weight of betrayal and loss. The descent into depression is steep, and thoughts of suicide begin to loom. Riko's salvation comes in the form of his son, Pietro, a beacon guiding him out of the abyss of despair. It's through Pietro's unwavering faith that Riko finds the strength to rebuild his life from the ruins, offering a glimmer of hope in his seemingly bleak existence.
