Plot

In the heart of Broadway, a captivating tale of dreams, deception, and destiny unravels. Melinda Howard, a vivacious entertainer, has been lending her voice to a modest theater troupe touring through the provinces. Eking out a living from her performances and the financial aid sent by her mother, Broadway star Jessica Howard, Melinda decides it's time to return home. She yearns to surprise her mother, whom she pictures as a radiant Broadway star residing in a grand Manhattan mansion. Unbeknownst to Melinda, reality paints a grim picture - Jessica is now a washed-up cabaret singer, nursing a whiskey addiction and a crumbling career. Upon her arrival in Manhattan, Melinda is greeted not by her mother but by affable servants, Lefty Mack and Gloria Davis, who are old theater friends of Jessica's. The luxurious house she believes to be her mother's is actually owned by Adolph Hubbell, a successful beer baron with a soft spot for Broadway productions. In a whirlwind of well-intentioned deception, Adolph and his household conspire to stage a reunion between Jessica and Melinda, a feat contingent on Jessica's sobriety. As the charade deepens, Melinda becomes the muse for Adolph's next show, while also capturing the heart of Tom Farnham, a renowned Broadway entertainer eager to partner with her both on and off the stage. However, the budding father-daughter bond between Adolph and Melinda sparks suspicion and potential scandal within the tight-knit Broadway community, even raising the eyebrows of Adolph's wife, Anna. "Lullaby of Broadway" is a riveting exploration of ambition, love, and the intoxicating allure of the stage, set against the glittering backdrop of New York City's theater district. As dreams intertwine with reality, Melinda must navigate her passion, her relationships, and the intricate web of secrets surrounding her mother's life, all while under the dazzling lights of Broadway.
