In the infant years of the Australian Federation, circa 1902, twelve-year-old Tom finds himself entangled in his father Nat's vision of pioneering life. Uprooted from familiarity, Tom and his sister Sarah are dragged to an isolated farm, nestled on the fringe of a haunting woodland. Nat's dream of self-sufficiency shatters, his sanity cracking under the weight of failure. Their secluded existence takes a tense turn when three ex-soldiers seek refuge at their cabin one ominous night. To Tom, much like his father, their arrival seems like a divine intervention. However, the air grows thick with menace as one soldier unveils a secret - a hidden trove of gold. As golden allure infects the already strained atmosphere, the cabin transforms into a psychological battlefield.
