Alex Burns is more than just a gifted copy editor for the renowned travel magazine, "Around the World." She's a dreamer, craving to experience the globe-trotting adventures she so often edits. When the magazine's editor-in-chief, Peter McHugh, announces a contest for the staff to write an article of their choice, Alex sees her chance. The rewards are enticing - a front cover feature, a first class ticket to anywhere she desires, and a promotion to a full-time travel writer. Inspired by the striking work of a seemingly elusive adventure photographer named Cole Taylor, Alex pitches a story to explore what makes him tick. However, Peter redirects her vision towards a more personal, thrilling adventure - to dive into the extreme winter sports that Cole is known to capture, highlighting her journey from being a novice to overcoming her fears. With her boyfriend Barton's conservatism echoing in her ears, Alex takes flight to the rugged peaks of Ridgeline, Colorado.
